After generations of traditional and organic farming, the Coen family farm was struggling. It was then that Takota discovered permaculture concepts and put them to use by using the principles of Bill Molloson (who many call the father of permaculture).

It was these principles and Takota’s creative genius that led to a total redesign of his family’s property.  They have since turned the family farm into a profitable and sustainable ecosystem that not only provides for multiple families but has brought water back to the aquifer and several species back to the land. Now Takota has turned his efforts toward helping others do the same for their land and homesteads.

I hope you enjoy this episode.  I am very excited to see what Takota’s contributions do for the homestead and permaculture movement.

Absolutely loved this episode, but I may be a little biased, I do live 3 hrs south of Takota and find his constant so helpful because so much of it applies to the same climate and environment that I live in.
I love all your podcasts, and never miss listening to a single one. Your podcast channel is by far my favourite Keep up the amazing work!

“Homesteading is a revolution disguised as gardening.” I LOVE that!

    Hi,
I listen regularly and I enjoyed some elements this podcast episode. I have a lot of respect for Takoda and the work he has done, but I would like to clarify though the statement about needing to ‘ask permission’ to buy animal feed in Canada is brazen misinformation. You do not need a PID or gov. registration to buy animal feed in Canada.
