“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who gives the growth.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:7 (ESV)
As the cold settles in and the garden beds outside fall silent under frost, life doesn’t stop—it simply shifts indoors. Tiny trays of microgreens on the kitchen counter. Herbs sprout on the windowsill. The growing continues, even in limited space, even in a different season.
It’s a quiet kind of faithfulness. And it reminds us of a profound truth: growth doesn’t depend on where we are but who we trust.
In 1 Corinthians 3:7, Paul reminds the early church that while we may plant or water, God is the one who gives the growth. That’s true for the soil—and for the soul.
You may feel like this season of life has shrunk your space to grow. Maybe the energy, margin, or sunlight you once had feels limited. But the God who brings life to a handful of seeds on a windowsill can bring fruit to your life right where you are—if you’ll give Him the room.
It doesn’t take a big garden to grow something beautiful. It takes care. Consistency. Light. Water. And trust in the One who causes transformation. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is at work even in the smallest corners of your life.
Reflection Questions:
- Are you in a “small space” season of life? How might God still be growing something in you?
- What small, daily practices can help nourish spiritual growth right now?
- Where do you need to let go and trust God to bring the growth?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being the God who grows things—even in small, quiet places. Help me not to despise slow or hidden seasons. Teach me to be faithful with what I have, to nurture what You’ve given me, and to trust You to bring the increase in Your perfect time. Amen.
